We are committed to providing a personalised learning experience for every student. At enrolment and at key stages throughout the year, students are encouraged to explore their interests and career aspirations, helping them make informed subject choices.
Extension opportunities are available for gifted students, while literacy and numeracy support programs assist those who need extra help. Vocational pathways also enable students to develop valuable work-related knowledge and skills.
Students engage with these learning areas from Years 7–12, with opportunities to extend their learning, specialise in areas of interest, or pursue vocational training, including School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATS) in Years 10–12.

English
At Kingston State College, our English Faculty is passionate about helping every student find their voice. Through reading, writing, speaking, and listening, we support students to become confident communicators who can think critically and express themselves with purpose.
In Junior Secondary, students explore a wide range of stories, media articles, films, and other texts. They learn to understand different perspectives, develop their own ideas, and communicate clearly in creative, analytical, critical, and persuasive ways. Units are structured to support literacy growth while encouraging student voice and personal expression.
In Senior Secondary, students can choose a pathway that suits their goals and interests:
• General English – develops analytical, persuasive, and creative skills for university or further study.
• Essential English – supports practical communication for everyday life and the workplace.
• Literature – allows students to delve deeper into complex and contemporary texts.
Our programs are aligned with Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum and are designed to support every student—from those who love reading and writing to those who are building confidence in their skills. At Kingston State College, we aim to make English meaningful, relevant, and engaging for all learners.

LOTE – Spanish
¡Hola, amigos! From Years 7–10, Kingston State College provides students with the opportunity to broaden their world views, deepen their cultural understanding, and strengthen their cognitive skills by learning Spanish.
In Years 7 and 8, students complete one semester of study, learning the basics of spoken and written Spanish, while also exploring the Spanish-speaking world. In Years 9 and 10, students can choose to continue their studies through a year-long unit, deepening their language skills.
Spanish students have ample opportunities to practise and enhance their skills through extracurricular activities, including competitions, excursions to restaurants, and dance classes. We also host a Fiesta at the end of each semester to celebrate our high-performing students.

Technologies
At Kingston State College, our Design and Technologies program for Years 7–10 offers students a hands-on, problem-solving education that equips them with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Through engaging, project-based learning, students explore the full design process—researching needs, generating creative ideas, planning, prototyping, testing, and evaluating their solutions. They work both independently and collaboratively, using a variety of tools, materials, and digital technologies safely and effectively.
Whether they are designing a sustainable product, engineering a CO₂-powered vehicle, using CAD software to model objects for 3D printing, or exploring emerging technologies, students gain practical experience while developing valuable skills in:
• Creative thinking and innovation
• Digital and technical literacy
• Critical analysis and iterative problem-solving
• Project management and teamwork
• Ethical, environmental, and user-centred design principles
Our program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum (Version 9) and prepares students for senior pathways in Industrial Graphics, Design, and Engineering, while also building capabilities useful in any career. We provide an inclusive and supportive workshop environment with access to modern equipment and experienced teachers who foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
Design and Technologies at Kingston State College isn't just about making things—it's about making meaningful things that matter.
Science
At Kingston, Science is exciting, challenging, and full of opportunity. In the junior years, students build strong foundations by exploring the major strands of Science—Biological, Chemical, Earth and Space, and Physical Sciences. Our programs are aligned with Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, ensuring a strong balance between core knowledge, skill development, and real-world application.
We ignite curiosity and inspire discovery through hands-on experiments, STEM projects, field studies, and community partnerships. Students learn to ask critical questions, design fair tests, collect and analyse data, and communicate their findings with confidence. Through inquiry-based learning, they begin to see how science connects to their everyday lives, the environment, and global challenges.
In Senior Secondary, students can specialise by studying Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, or Science in Practice.
