Assessment
Formal assessment takes place in every subject area throughout the year. Our assessment policy is designed to:
support quality teaching and learning,
help students achieve their personal best, and
provide timely, meaningful feedback to parents and guardians through regular reporting.
Senior Assessment
Assessment in Senior Schooling is developed in partnership with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and undergoes strict quality assurance. Each school implements Assessment Policies and Procedures to ensure academic integrity and equity.
Full details of our school policies can be found in the Rules and Policies section of this website.
Educational Adjustments
The QCAA recognises that some students may have a disability, impairment, long-term medical condition, or other circumstances that create barriers to fair assessment. To support these students, Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) may be applied.
Students who require reasonable adjustments can apply to the QCAA for approval. Families are encouraged to contact our Deputy Principal – Inclusive Practices to discuss eligibility and the application process. Please note: applications for Year 12 assessment must be submitted before Term 3 of Year 11.
Missed Exams & Extensions
Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 who experience short-term illness or absence may also be eligible for AARA.
Requests for extensions or adjustments must be submitted via the AARA Application Form.
Applications should be lodged at least two school days prior to the due date, wherever possible.
Approval of AARA is at the discretion of the QCAA, the Principal (or delegate), and is only granted when:
the student meets the eligibility criteria, and
the circumstances create a genuine barrier to demonstrating their knowledge or skills.
