Our school community has identified the following principles of behaviour to teach and promote our high standards of responsible behaviour: Courtesy, Commitment, Cooperation and Common sense.
Below are examples of what these PBL expectations look like for students across the school. In addition, each classroom will have their own set of examples to help students and visitors understand the expectations and meet the standards we hold for everyone at Kingston State College.
- Follow the hands-off policy
- Speak politely and use “please” and “thank you”
- Use appropriate language
- Actively listen to others
- Respect own and others’ belongings
- Wear correct uniform at all times
- 100% attendance, participation and effort
- Arrive on time
- Bring all equipment
- Follow all instructions and requests from staff
- Accept consequences for your actions
- Keep prohibited items at home (aerosol cans, gum, etc)
- Be safe
- Follow the law
- Follow OHS guidelines
- Use technology safely and appropriately.
The annual Kingston State College Awards Evening rewards students for academic and sporting excellence at the end of each year.
Student attendance is recognised through events for students who qualify each term in the 95 Club and 100 Club as well as the Platinum club for 100% attendance for the whole year. For students in the 95 Club, there are multiple rewards such as Dreamworld excursion, barbeque lunches and pool parties. Students in the 100 Club each term are also invited to have morning tea with the Principal. If a students has an attendance of 100% for the entire school year, they will also receive a free school jacket.
Positive Behaviour is recognised via VIVO for students who meet and exceed the College's expectations around the 4 Cs – Commitment, Courtesy, Common Sense and Cooperation.
VIVO allows staff to award points, called VIVOs, to individual students, classes or groups of students. Students are then able to use these points by redeeming them for rewards that can be chosen from the online VIVO shop.
