“Schools have to prepare students for jobs that have not been created, technologies that have not yet been invented and problems that we don't know will arise." Andreas Schleicher
To ensure students have access to the best possible educational outcomes and meet the complex demands of 21st century education, Kingston State College has transitioned to a Bring Your Own Device school from 2020 onwards. This model allows students to bring a device that best supports their learning needs.
Students may not use their device in every lesson, every day, however, it is important to note that technology is just one aspect of Kinston States College's approach to education, one that prepares students for the modern world.
Using devices in school can improve student learning by creating opportunities for:
- Communicating with teachers
- Collaborating online in groups
- Handing in homework
- Watching educational videos
- Researching for assignments
- Completing quizzes and exams
- Hardware and online ordering
The physical requirements that devices need to meet so they are suitable for the classroom. - Software requirements
What software students need, how they can get it. We recommend students do some of these steps at home.
- Enrol a new device for school
Before BYOD devices can join our secure, custom built Wi-Fi network, they need to be enrolled with Microsoft Intune.
